“The thing that’s important to know is that you never know. You’re always sort of feeling your way.”

– Diane Arbus

In the age of digital photography, Jayne Wexler’s portraiture is an oasis of heart. At every shoot, Jayne nurtures a relationship with the sitter, drawing out a story, a passion, a dream. Born in Brooklyn, raised in New Jersey and trained at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts, she has lived and worked in New York City ever since. Jayne encounters many of her future subjects by chance--on crowded city streets or backcountry roads, in places as far flung as Dubrovnik, Kyoto and the Bronx. In the same way that Jayne draws inspiration from the communities around her, so does she give back to them, doing pro bono work for charitable organizations and public education. In addition to her advertising, editorial and fine art projects, Jayne has published three acclaimed books of portraiture, Daughters & Mothers (a New York Times bestseller), Girlfriends, and Grandmothers.
